Study In Carving
Synopsis
Tsuchime is a study in hand carving and texture. Using gouges, I explored rhythm, grain, and pressure to create wooden objects that highlight the beauty of imperfection and the maker’s touch.

The hammered texture on steel bowls finds its origins in japan’s metalworking traditions, particularly in the form of hand-hammered steel bowls called "tsuchime" bowls.
